about

When I was at Art School (a few years ago now!), I studied graphic design, but my desk was always the messiest and often showed signs of experiments with liquid stone and ink. Perhaps I should have followed my heart, rather than my head, and switched to a Fine Art. However, after many years of working as a graphic and surface pattern designer, I realised that what I really love to do is create digital art and paint with oils when I get the chance. So it seems I have ended up as a digital artist and designer, but I still keep in touch with my inky more experimental self.

My life has been a been a bit of a whirlwind since leaving Art School. I co-founded a design consultancy with my husband where we led the way in digital media, having got our hands on one of the very first Apple Macs in the country in 1985 ("It will never catch on" said our purist design friends!). After twenty years, we then built some 'Live Work’ apartments, created a screen print workshop on Swan Island in Twickenham, designed and launched my own home accessory range, opened a shop on Frome’s iconic Catherine Hill, and somehow managed to bring up two beautiful daughters.

In the middle of all that, in 2008 I had the opportunity to have a solo show at Brock Street Gallery in Bath. It was a chance to see my screen prints and paintings in a large, well-lit space and I received some wonderful feedback from the people of Bath and visiting tourists.

More recently, I decided to seek a simpler life and have retreated back to my garden studio to concentrate on my first love, drawing and painting, whether it be on canvas, paper or my iPad.
